Mainz 05 went a man down before first half of the match after Edimilson Fernandes got his second caution with a minute to end the first half

German forward Rouwen Hennings scored the only goal of the contest with eight minutes to end the match to give Fortuna Dusseldorf a hard fought 1-0 win on the afternoon

The win means Dusseldorf has jumped out of the relegation zone on the league table and now sits 13th on the table after eight league matches with seven points
