Works to begin soon as Speaker of Parliament Constructs AstroTurf Pitch for SDD-UBIDS
The Sports infrastructure project is set to be the first of its kind in the Wa Municipality which doubles as the Capital of the Upper West Region.
The project will also become the first ever sporting edifice for the Students of SDD-UBIDS as they seek to unearth talents and compete with fellow Universities at subsequent GUSA games.
It forms part of Rt. Hon. Alban S.K Bagbins Philanthropic work being done for the good people of Upper West and the Country at large.
Notable of such projects include another AstroTurf in Nadowli and an Ultra Modern 2,000 capacity Auditorium for His former School Wa Senior High.
The Site Inspection for the construction of the AstroTurf by the office of the Speaker of Parliament of Ghana was done on Thursday 20th June 2024 on the SDD-UBIDS Campus with the following personalities present;
Lord Mike from Speaker’s office, Engineers (Contractor), Registrar, Director of Works, Dean of Students, SRC President and NUGS President of the University.
The site which is estimated at 55 acres of land is located in between the Police Barrier, Pops John Church, Cardinal Dery Hall and Royal Hall.
The project will also contain a Volleyball Court, Tennis Court, Basketball Court and tracks for Athletics once fully completed, and is set to be executed by the same Contractor in charge of the Nadowli AstroTurf.
The Project also emphasizes the 3rd Gentleman’s dedication and commitment towards Sports over the years, notably his adoption of female Football Club Sung Shining Ladies FC and supporting them to seal qualification into the Women’s Premier League.
