USL: Solomon Asante cap off the USL Championship regular season with an assist as Phoenix Rising FC returns to winning way on the last day of the season
Solomon Asante and his side capped off their historic 2019 with a comfortable victory at home on the last day of the USL Championship regular season beating OKC Energy FC 3-1
Rising FC lifted the regular season trophy in front of their supporters on the night and now awaits their opponent in the 2019 play-offs season
Solomon lasted the full duration of the match and had an assist to this name as well
The assist is Asante’s 17th of the regular season as he record the most assists of the campaign setting a record of most assists in a single season in the USL Championship and with 22 goals throughout the season he won the golden boot award as well only three goals short of equalling the USL Championship goals of a single season
Solomon Asante missed his third straight penalty on the night after failing to convert from the spot to give Phoenix Rising FC the lead in the 15thminute of the match before he teamed up perfectly for Adam Jahn to put Rising FC in front in the 21st minute of the match
Kevon Lambert scored a stunner in the 32nd minute of the match to give Phoenix Rising FC 2-0 into the break
Adam Jahn grabbed his second of the match to give Rising FC a 3-0 lead in the 70th minute of the match before OKC Energy FC got a consolation through Deshorn Brown in the 73rd minute of the match
The win means Phoenix Rising FC have won 24 matches throughout the regular season the most in the season and with 78 points at the end of the season, they recorded the all time single season record of points in the USL Championship as well
With 89 goals scored throughout the season, Rising FC holds the record single season goals scored by a single team in the USL Championship and 53+ goal difference in the season also a single season record as well in the Championship
Phoenix Rising FC also ended the season with a 20 streak wins a record in the club’s history abd kept 13 clean sheets throughout the season only two short of equalling the regular season record of most clean sheets
Rising FC trio of Solomon Asante, Jumior Flemmings and Adam Jahn had a goal combination of 54 goals with Solomon scoring 22, Flemmings 15 and Jahn 17 as they became the deadliest attacking trio in the USL Championship league history
