USL: Disappointing as Solomon Asante and his Phoenix Rising FC side misses out on the USL Championship play-offs final after a narrow defeat against Real Monarchs SLC

It was a disappointing night for Solomon Asante and his side Phoenix Rising FC as they missed out on a place in the season’s championship play-offs final after losing 1-2 at home against Real Monarchs SLC

Rising FC ended the season disappointed following the upset caused by Real Monarchs SLC on the night as poor officiating on the night condemned their high flying season to an unceremonious end

Asante played full throttle on the night and was influential for his side throughout the encounter on what was their last game of the USL Championship season

Phoenix Rising FC rose to the occasion in the 25th minute as Jamaican Junior Flemmings scored the game’s opener before Real Monarchs SLC fought back to take the lead before the first half of the match with goals from Jack Blake and Maikel Chang in the 33rd and 43rd minutes respectively to upset Rising FC

Phoenix Rising FC lacked the cutting edge on the night and it caused them a place in the final of the play-offs and ended their quest for a USL Championship treble

Asante ended the season with 22 goals and 17 assists with a goal combination of 39 and scope all four awards at the club’s awards night

Phoenix Rising FC will rise to the occasion next season as well following their history making season of 20 consecutive unbeaten run
