TOKYO 2020: Kenya Knocks Black Queens Out of Qualifiers
Ghana Black Queens were this afternoon beaten 1-0 by the Harambee Starlets of Kenya over two legs.
After drawing 0-0 in Ghana it was always going to be a daunting task for coach Mercy Tagoe and her charges to pass the test.
The Kasarani Stadium was the venue as Kenya hosted the Black Queens in the second leg of the 2020 Olympic Games qualifier.
It was a tough game and a tough win for the Harambee Starlets as the game went to extra time. There was quite much viciousness in the game with both sides struggling to produce clear goal scoring chances in both halves of the game.
Kenya recorded the only goal in the 99th minute when second half substitute Jentrix Shikangwa scored from the spot to give her side the upper hand.
As it stands the Harambee Starlets are through to the next round of the qualifiers and as a result the Black Queens are being eliminated and will not show up in Tokyo for the 2020 Olympic Games.
