South Africa: World Olympia Caster Semenya signs first professional football contract with JVW FC
The world renowned athletic, Caster Semenya has ventured into football as she signed her first professional contract with South African based female club JVW FC till 2020
The club was founded by South African senior women’s national team captain Janine van Wyk in 2012 and joined the football association in 2013 become a member of the South African SAFA Sasol Women’s League Association club
The 28 year old former athete joined the club following her case of testosterone rule with the IAAF as she has been suspended
On 30th July 2019, the Swiss Federal Supreme Court reversed the earlier ruling that has suspended the Court of Arbitration for Sport decision and the IAAF rules. For that reason, Semenya will miss the 2019 world Athletics championships in Doha in October 2019 as she continue her appeal
She will play in the new women’s national league for JVW FC in South Africa this season
She joins fellow Olympia Usian Bolt to feature into football after ending their athletic careers
