Saeed Abdulai: GFA Rules in Favor of Tamale Future Stars in Player Registration Dispute

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) Player Status Committee has determined that Saeed Abdulai’s registration by Tamale Future Stars FC should be the only recognized information in the GFA Records. This decision follows an investigation into the player’s registration status.

Saeed Abdulai, a talented winger, became the subject of a protest between Tamale Future Stars and Tamale Vision FC after their match in the Northern Regional Division Two League. Tamale Vision FC filed a protest, claiming that Tamale Future Stars fielded an unqualified player.

The Northern Regional Football Association Disciplinary Committee ruled in favor of Tamale Vision FC after discovering that Saeed Abdulai had been double-registered in the FIFA Connect system. The player had registered with both Tamale Victory Stars in 2018 and Tamale Future Stars in 2020.

As a result, Four points were deducted from Tamale Future Stars and was also fined 1000gh by the RFA.

Tamale Future Stars responded to the decision by appealing to the RFA. They argued that the RFA had only considered the technical principle of registration precedence, without addressing the validity of Tamale Victory Stars’ registration.

Saeed Abdulai denied ever registering for Tamale Victory Stars and claimed that his birth certificate had been falsified. He presented a recorded phone call conversation with the CEO of Tamale Victory Stars, who denied registering him.

The Player Status Committee conducted an investigation and confirmed that the birth certificate was indeed fake. They also spoke to the CEO of Tamale Victory Stars, who admitted knowing the player but denied registering him. The coach at the time, Mr. Shamuna Nurudeen Mohammed, acknowledged registering the player for both Bagabaga FC and Tamale Victory Stars.

Based on the evidence gathered, the Player Status Committee concluded that the player was not consulted and was unaware of his registration by Tamale Victory Stars. Therefore, the records of his registration with Tamale Victory Stars should be nullified and expunged from the GFA records. Only the registration by Tamale Future Stars should be recognized.

The impact of the GFA Player Status Committee’s ruling on the case between Tamale Vision and Tamale Future Stars, as decided by the Northern Regional Football Association, remains to be seen.
