RULING: Kotoko to Pay Compensation to CK Akonnor for Wrongful Dismissal

Kumasi Asante Kotoko have been ordered by the FA Status Committee to pay an amount of Ghc60,000 to their former coach C.K Akonnor for a wrongful dismissal.

The former Hearts of Oak and Dreams fc manager was sacked in July this year, having spent close to a year into his three-year contract. He was then compelled to drag Asante Kotoko to the Ghana Football Association demanding his 2years salary, league trophy cash and other entitlements.

The Player Status Committee ruled that the Porcupine Warriors sacking of Akonnor was not justified whatsoever thereby breaching the terms of the contract between the two parties.

Kotoko and C.K Akonnor relationship deteriorated after the latter rejected an offer to head the club’s Technical Directorate. Kotoko subsequently appointment Kjetil Zachariassen in those circumstances which culminated Akonnor’s leaving the club in the most bizarre way.
