PRESIDENT CUP: Asante Kotoko vs Hearts of Oak – All You Need to Know

Kumasi Asante Kotoko and Accra Hearts of Oak will finally settle the dust when the two most decorated clubs in the country come face to face in the this year’s President Cup.

The match has been postponed twice will finally come off at the Baba Yara Stadium this afternoon.

Coincidentally, this will also be the first competitive game for returnee coach, Maxwell Konadu who’s back and in charge of the club he managed a few years ago. He’s currently putting things in order but that’ll not be an excuse to not put up a good fight against the Porcupine Warriors arch rivals.

Kim Grant has had enough time with Hearts of Oak and the merest hint of a positive is to be grasped. Some supporters of Hearts of Oak are not happy with the administrative handling of the club but a win will surely disperse those agitations.

This won’t be a make or break game for both teams but it is definitely a dress rehearsal ahead of the commencement of the new season and a chance for either team to lay down a marker and put up a solid performance to galvanize their support base across the country.

The last time the two sides faced each other in the Presidential Cup, they played a pulsating 1-1 draw before Kumasi Asante Kotoko eventually winning 3-1 on penalties.

The Presidential Cup is a game played every year to honor the sitting President of Ghana.

Kickoff time is 3:00 pm.
