NUMBER 12: Why Anas’ Expose was not just a Movie

It’s barely a year now after one of the most anticipated documentary was released by investigative journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas titled Number 12: When Greed and Corruption Become the Norm.

It generated all the buzz and fuss one would have expected but it was also met with agitations and tumultuous disturbances by a cross section of the general public as one of the lead investigators Ahmed Suale was subsequently murdered in a cold blood by unknown assailants.

It was an open secret that Corruption had engulfed the Kwesi Nyantakyi led administration but it was just a matter of time for it to explode. Then Anas jumped in uninvited cue his bizarre clandestine tactics, went undercover and presented to us audiovisual of top GFA Officials and stakeholders engaging in malfeasance.

World governing body of football FIFA dissolved the GFA and banned some of those who appeared to have violated their code of ethics. The boss himself Nyantakyi was a victim as he was banned for life from all football activities.

FIFA in consultation with the government of Ghana put in place what is called a Normalization Committee, as the name suggests to Normalize the game and make it wholesome again.

The NC work is almost done as new statutes have been adopted and a roadmap for election is underway to fetch a new, competent and a capable team to lead the top hierarchy of football in Ghana.

You may not like Anas’s modus operandi, you may question his integrity, you may even not like him as a person but you cannot take away the fact that his expose has led to the purgation of Ghana football.

Considering the timber and caliber of people like Dr. Toni Aubynn and Dr. Kwame Kyei declaring to vie for the post aside the notable ones we know, no form or shape of words can convince me that Number 12 was just a movie.

Ghana football will rise again and again.
