Nadowli Community Wins 2nd Edition Of Azumah Resources Ghana Ltd Inter-Community Football Gala
Nadowli Community triumphed in the just ended inter-community football gala matches organized by Azumah Resources Ghana Ltd
The 2nd edition of the competition was held at the Nadowli D/A Primary school park from the 3rd-4th of December this year
Eight communities participated in this year’s edition of the football gala tournament namely; Nadowli, Goli/Serekpere, Sombo, Kaleo,Papu, Charipkong, Yagha and Takpo
Format for the competition was a winner take all as it was played on knockout basis through to the finals of the competition
Below are the results from the games throughout the competition
Kaleo 1: Yagha 1 ( Kaleo won 4-2 on pens)
Charipkong 2 : Takpo 1
Nadowli 4 : Papu 1
Goli/Serekpere 3 : Sombo 1
In the semi finals, Nadowli won 3-1 against Kaleo as Goli/Serekpere also defeated Charipkong 2-1 in the second semi final game
Kaleo faced Charipkong in the 3rd & 4th playoff game which ended 2-0 for Kaleo
Nadowli clashed with Goli/Serekpere in the grand finale as Nadowli won 2-1 to emerge champions of the competition
All eight participating communities were given GH1000 cedis to support their transportation as well as refreshments while the four semi finalists sides were given additional GH200 cedis each
All teams were given a football each of participating in the tournament
Champions Nadowli received a trophy, gold medals, set of jerseys , a ball and an undisclosed amount
Second place side, Goli/Serekpere also received silver medals, a set of jersey, a ball and an undisclosed amount of money
Third place Kaleo were also given bronze medals, a ball and an undisclosed amount of money
Striker for Nadowli, Garry Philip was adjudged the MVP of the gala competition as he played an instrumental for his side on their way to lifting the trophy
Philip netted four goals in the competition from two games including a brace in the grand finale of the tournament and was awarded with a trophy as the MVP of the competition
Issahaku Nasir from Goli/Serekpere won the golden boot award following his 4 goals and an assist in the competition and was as well given a trophy as an award
Nyeyele Wahab also from the Goli/Serekpere team was also named the best goalkeeper of the competition as he conceded two goals throughout the tournament and was phenomenal for his side reaching the final and was given a football as his prize
The Community Relations Manager for Azumah Resources Ghana Ltd, Mad. Nana Akesseh in her speech to thanked all the communities and spectators for always supporting Azumah Resources Ghana Ltd as a company and thanked them for their role in this year’s edition of the competition
She added that the company will lease with the communities to bring on board more of such activities and projects to foster unity and good community relations with their area of operation
This year’s edition of the competition attracted massive attention and crowd throughout the two days on the competition
