Jordan Ayew and Five Black Stars Players test positive for Covid-19
Crystal Palace striker Jordan Ayew has confirmed that he has tested positive for coronavirus and has begun self-isolation for 14 days.
He tested positive on his return from international duty where he featured for the Black Stars against Mali and Qatar in Antalya, Turkey.
He was forced to miss Sunday’s English Premier League clash against Brighton Hove & Albion and has revealed that he has already started his mandatory isolation to overcome the disease.
Ayew has become the sixth Ghana international to contract the virus.
Vitoria Guimaraes left-back Gideon Mensah, Celta Vigo defender Joseph Aidoo, Kasim Nuhu Adams and Besiktas midfielder Bernard Mensah contracted the virus on their return to their respective clubs.
Trabzonspor striker Caleb Ekuban tested negative, but hospitalized in Turkey after showing strong symptoms of coronavirus with high temperature.
“Sadly, I have tested positive for Covid-19 & have begun my quarantine in line with the health guidance.
Thankfully, I am feeling fine & do not have any symptoms 🙏🏾
I will be cheering the boys on from home & look forward to being back on the pitch soon 💪🏽🔴🔵
Stay safe 🙌🏾♥️”
Ayew declared in a statement on Sunday after Crystal Palace’s game.
