Ismail Abdul Ganiyu Among Five Local Players In CK Akonnor Black Stars Squad

Kumasi Asante Kotoko’s defender Ismail Abdul Ganiyu is among five local based players to have earned a call up into coach CK Akonnor’s squad for the upcoming World Cup qualifiers

The towering centre-back is the only player from the camp of Asante Kotoko to be named on the list for the upcoming matches against Ethiopia and South Africa

The other home based players include goalkeeper Richard Atta and Afriyie Barnieh both from the camp of champions Hearts Of Oak, Philemon Baffour of Dreams FC and Issahaku Fatawu of Steadfast FC

Ismail Abdul Ganiyu enjoyed a successful season with the Porcupine Warriors helping them to finish second in the just ended league season and has kept his place in the Black Stars set up following his impressive maiden display with the senior national team

He made two appearances for the national team in games against South Africa and São Tomé and Principe in the final two Afcon qualifiers
