Impressive Jordan Ayew and Thonas Partey shortlist for CAF African Player of the Year Award
Black Stars duo of Jordan Ayew and Thomas Partey have been shortlisted among others for the upcoming CAF African Player of the year award
The duo made the shortlist following their impressive displays for club and country throughout the year
Atletico Madrid’s midfielder, Thomas Partey has been an integral part of Diego Simeone’s set up for a couple of seasons now and has as well been outstanding for the Black Stars since making his international debut for the side
Partey was on the score sheet for the Black Stars in their 2-0 victory against Bafana Bafana in the 2021 Afcon qualifiers and was again influential for the side in their narrow 1-0 win over minors Sao Time and Principe during the international break
Compatriot attacker, Jordan Ayew has also been outstanding for Crystal Palace as well as the senior national team throughout the year
Jordan was the Black Stars stand-out performer during the last edition of the Afcon where the Black Stars exited at the round of 16 of the competition to Tunisia
The frontman has followed suit with that form for Roy Hodgson’s side in the premier league this season netting four times in the league to become the club’s top scorer so far this season
The duo have been named among 28 others for the prestigious award on the African continent with reigning winner Mohammed Salah and club mate Sadio Mane all named on the list
The list will be trimmed down to three names before the main event on 7th January 2020 in Egypt
