GPL: Ban on Real Tamale United would affect many lives – Former RTU Head of Operations

The Former head of Operations and Marketing Manager for Real Tamale United (RTU), Mohammed Munkaelu Jnr, has expressed concern that banning the club for using unqualified players in the outstanding matchday 28 fixture against Dreams FC in the Ghana Premier League would have a significant impact on many lives.

The RTU players refused to participate in the match against Dreams FC due to five months of unpaid salaries.

As a result, RTU reportedly utilized lower-division players in their penultimate game of the season.

In an exclusive interview with Citi Sports, Mohammed Munkaelu Jnr acknowledged the complexity of the issue but emphasized that banning RTU would devastate many lives throughout northern Ghana.

Real Tamale United is the only tool in terms of sports in the whole of northern Ghana.

To ban RTU would, mean they have killed a lot of souls and that wouldn’t be fair.

The club is much innocent.

I think there are some individuals that have made some wrong decisions, those individuals can be either be ban or given lengthy sanctions and I support that.

When this happened I made my point clear that management should be made to face the law.

Real Tamale United are still awaiting a response from the Ghana Football Association’s disciplinary committee after being given a deadline of June 14 to address the alleged violation of section 34(6)(d) of the Ghana Football Association’s 2019 disciplinary code.
