Ghana’s all-time Topscorer Asamoah Gyan set to light up the GPL with Legon Cities FC
Asamoah Gyan has returned to the Ghana Premier league by signing for Legon Cities FC on transfer deadline day.
Gyan had been without a club since January, and has now agreed a deal with the Legon-based club after Asante Kotoko SC failed to meet his demands.
Gyan reportedly agreed a four-year deal which will see him earn more than $1 million – a record in the local transfer.
As part of the deal, the Ghana Premier League side have signed teenager Mathew Anim Cudjoe to partner him in the nation’s top-flight league.
Cudjoe played on loan last season at Kotoko but the Porcupine Warriors could not sign him on a permanent deal.
The 34-year old is returning to the local league, 17 years after leaving Liberty Professionals.
Gyan has scored 51 goals in 109 appearances for the Black Stars since his debut in 2003.
