Unfortunately, Werder Bremen won 6-1 on the final day against FC Cologne to book a relegation playoff spot while Dusseldorf suffered a 3-0 defeat away from home against Union Berlin to confirm their departure from the bundesliga

Fortuna Dusseldorf will now compete in the bundesliga 2 league next season
