Ghana Football Coaches Association Upper West Branch Inaugurated

Ghana Football Coaches Association Upper West branch has been inaugurated following an inauguration ceremony in the regional capital Wa to mark the historic occasion

The event saw coaches in and within environ of the region gathered at Upland Hotel where the ceremony took place on Saturday, 5th of September

The ceremony was chaired by the Vice Chairman of the Regional Football Association Mr. Issah Peter and the special guest of honour for the occasion was the National Co-ordinator of the Ghana Football Coaches Association Mr. C. Abega Wilson

Chairman for the Upper West Football Coaches Association coach Nurideen Ahmed in his welcome address admonished the association to strive on togetherness and unity to achieve their ultimate goal

The former Wa All Stars and Aduana SC coach assured all the association is as well bent on unearthing and developing talents in the region for national consumption as well as urging his colleagues to share ideas both technical and tactical for the development of the game in the region and beyond

Coach Nurideen Ahmed further stressed on dues payment from members in the association as well as gaining more recognition from the Ghana Football Association and other stakeholders in the football industry

First vice chairman of the association in the region, Alhaji Abubakari Sokpari Mumuni gave a brief on the formation of the Upper West branch of the Football Coaches Association and in his brief stated the association came into being in 2016 and was championed by the second batch of CAF license A coaches in the region including himself, coach Issah Najahu and the association chairman

The former Wa All Stars and Elman SC coach acknowledged the support the association received from former technical director of the Ghana Football Association Mr. Oti Aketeng, Mr Edusei and former Asante Kotoko and Black Queens coach Didi Dramani

He concluded his brief re-echoeing the need for the association working in unity and harmony

Solidarity messages from the media and club representatives were also read out at the occasion with emphasis on unity and harmony as well as coaching beyond their comfort zone

Special guest of the ceremony Mr. C.Abega Wilson spoke on behalf of the national Football Coaches Association and encouraged members to adventure into other aspects of coaching as administration, scouting, video analyst, physical trainer psychologist and sports nutritionist among others

He urged his colleagues in the coaching fraternity to focus more on the development aspect of coaching in order to help unearth potential talents across the region and nation at large

He further advised coaches to learn how to work with people in the game and always stay as a united force to enable them progress in the job

Another key area he touched on was on the need for the Regional Football Association to place much emphasis on developing and encouraging more development coaches in the region and also cited the lack of formal education as the reason majority of retired footballers run away from venturing into coaching

Chairman for the ceremony Mr. Issah Peter in his closing remarks pledged the support of the Regional Football Association to the association and also urged members to work in co-operation and unity as well as encouraging others to join the association

Other members of the association includes former Wa Suntaa SC head coach John Kandumah, former Ghana youth player Adnan Saeed, Doho Moses,Kaleonaa Lucy, former Wa Suntaa SC assistant coach and psychologist Coach Rufai, Coach Ganiyu Owen, Coach Ibrahim Hanif Donkor among other coaches were present at the occasion
