Ghana: Asante Kotoko Legend Malik Jabir pay homage to B.K Edusei
Former player and coach of Kotoko, Malik Jabir has praised Benjamin Kyem Edusei recounting fond memories of the former club chairman
Malik Jabir, who was a member of the Kotoko squad that tortured the entire Africa adding in an African Cup victory now known as Caf champions league
He recalled with fond memories some of the exploits of the late club chairman
” Nobody can match him. He single handedly secured plane tickets for thirty players to Britain to play four friendly games he organised”
” In 1968, he bought me a taxi when I didn’t even know how to drive by then, that was the beginning of my illustrious career”
” He bought a car for Rev. Osei Kofi too and did a lot for other players as well. I tell you, the whole Edusei family was involved to make us happy to play”
” We won the first African Cup under his stewardship in Congo in 1970, even at a point when the Football Association were not willing to sponsor the team to Congo, citing an outbreak of disease and he single handedly took up responsibility”
He further added ” The Foundation is not to raise money for the family, we are going to use the money to help those players who won the 1970/71 Cup. Look at the state of sone of such players who won that trophy, so let everyone get involved so we can raise funds to support these people”
