GFA Presidency: Professional football administrators must lead Ghana Football Association

The Majority Leader for Parliament, Mr Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu calls for professionally trained football administrators to lead the Ghana Football Association

According to the member of parliament for Suame, the idea of ‘football people’ or club administrators elected to lead the Ghana Football Association is not helping the progress of the game in the country since such people enters office with their ‘own interest’ and not the interest of the numerous football loving fans

He therefore urges someone who is very knowledgeable in the game and more professional to succeed Kwesi Nyantakyi

The Normalization Committee opened nominations for the 2019 Ghana FA elections on Monday as Chief Executive Officer of Dreams FC, Edwin Simon Kurt Okraku and former Ghana Football Association Vice President George Afriyie already picking their forms to contest the upcoming elections

“The norm of ‘football people’ or club administrators being elected to lead the GFA is not helping us, they come with their own interest. We must get professional administrators to lead our football association,” the majority leader said on Kumasi 104.1 FM

“I personally think these club owners cannot help develop our football. We must get professional administrators on board and hand over the association to them

“There’s no intention of government seeking to appoint nor back anyone for the GFA elections, its never appeared in my interaction with the sports minister,” he ended

Former vice president of the Football Association George Afriyie, Kurt Okraku, Nana Yaw Amponsah and Wilfred Osei Parma, and Dr Toni Aubynn have all confirmed their candidature for the Ghana Football Association presidential race
