GAMES: The Lowdown On the 31st Annual Inter-Schools Sports Festival

The 31st edition of the annual Inter Schools Sports Festival held in the Upper East region, Bolgatanga, came to a successful end.

The Festival of games brought to light an array of different games. Football, Volleyball, Handball, Netball, Basketball, Table Tennis, Hockey, Athletics, Badminton and Fencing.

Interestingly enough, the ladies were not left out in a sense that all these games were gender based games. So the girls/ladies took part and showcased their various talents in all the aforementioned games.

Upper West defeated the host region – Bolgatanga to win the football tournament. Ashanti and Central regions came first and second and Upper East clinching the third spot in the overall athletic league.

Some individual awards were won. The Hockey coaches of the two Upper regions were declared the best Hockey educators in the country for the immense shift they’ve made. Foster Ametsi and Grace Obour from the Ashanti region won the overall best male and female athletes respectively. They were all handsomely rewarded.

Central region became the overall champions, seconded by Ashanti region. The host region, Upper East came third.

The Upper East regional Minister, Paulina Abayage and the Director of Education Augustine Ayirezang congratulated the athletes and coaches for making the competition a success.

The next edition of the competition will be hosted by Western Region, Sekondi – Takoradi.
