In less than 24 hours after dismissing Fran Escriba as head coach, Celta Vigo has moved swiftly to appoint Spanish compatriot Oscar Garcia Junyent as the club’s new head coach on Monday evening
Oscar Garcia replaces Fran Escriba who was dismissed in the early hours of Monday following as series of poor results with the club in the Spanish top-flight league
Oscar Garcia Junyent joined the club with his abled assistants and are expected to have their first meeting and training session with the team on Tuesday, November 5
Oscar Garcia is on contract with the club till the end of the season with options of extending it depending on results and performances throughout the season
Oscar Garcia Junyent comes in with a lot of experience have had stints with FC Barcelona B, Maccabi Tel Aviv, Brighton, Watford, Red Bull Salzburg, St. Etienne and Olympiakos as well head coach of all youth level of the Spanish national team
He has won five trophies between his time at Isreali side Maccabi Tel Aviv and Austrian top-flight side Red Bull Salzburg
He has had his playing career with FC Barcelona, FC Valencia and Espanyol among others
He main task is to salvage Celta Vigo from the drop zone from now till the end of the season as they currently occupy the 18th position in the Spanish Law Liga after 12 matches
