Europe: Dede Ayew’s stay at championship side Swansea City delights club’s chairman Trevor Birch
Wales based English championship club Swansea City’s chairman, Trevor Birch has expressed his delight and surprised at the decision of the Black stars captain to stay at the club despite numerous offers to leave before transfer deadline day
Ayew revealed his decision to stay with the championship club on the eve of the transfer deadline day after been linked away from the club this summer
According to the club chairman, Trevor Birch it came as a bit of surprise as Dede Ayew along with Spanish forward Borja decided against leaving the club
The two players are the top earners at the club and he believes their stay will help in the development of the younger players
” To see them ( Dede Ayew and Borja) still part of our squad when the European transfer window closed on Monday was great news for everyone associated with the club. That last sentence is not one I thought I would be writing
” Andre has shown in his first few games back what a quality player he is
” He has come back to the club with a great attitude and as an experienced member of the squad. I think he has a big role to play in helping and supporting some of the younger players as the long season progresses
” Borja has been like a new signing. He has returned to the club from his loan spells in Spain fully committed and with renewed energy and confidence” he ended
Swansea City sits on the summit of the English championship table following their unbeaten start to the new season
