Disappointing Asante Kotoko Slumps To Defeat At Home Against Al Hilal In Caf Champions League

Ghana premier league giants Asante Kotoko slumped to a narrow home defeat to Al Hilal of Sudan in the Caf Champions League on Wednesday

The Kumasi based club failed to impress on home soil with yet another unconvincing display to their Sudanese opponents at the Accra Sports Stadium

Asante Kotoko managed to ended the first half of the match without conceding thanks to heroics of goalkeeper Razak Abalora and defensive masterpiece from left-back Ibrahim Imoro

Sulley Muniru, Naby Keita and Osman Ibrahim were all brought on by Coach Johnson Smith to help salvage the situation for the Porcupine Warriors but to no avail as nothing meaningful came out of it

A Vinny Bongonga Kombe strike in the 77th minute of the game sealed a hard fought victory for Al Hilal as they head into the second leg with a slim advantage as well as an away goal

Defeat means Kotoko has ended their nine games unbeaten run in at home in Caf competitions with 8 wins and 1 draw

Asante Kotoko will have to better the results in the second leg to stand a chance of advancing to the group stage of the competition
