CAFCC: Ashantigold SC Booted Out of CAF Confederation Cup
Ashantigold SC are out of this year’s Caf Confederation Cup tournament after they lost 4-3 on aggregate to RS Berkane of Morocco.
Having won the first leg by a narrow 3-2 win, it was always going to be a Herculean task for the Miners to advance.
In the first leg, Ashantigold SC threw away 2-0 lead by allowing Berkane to equalize before they added the third goal to ensure a 3-2 win. The vital two away goals RS Berkane bagged in Obuasi did the magic after they recorded another two goals at home making it a 4-3 win on aggregate.
The last year finalists made their intentions clear in the opening exchanges of the game and sustained the momentum until Dayo Issoufou and Zaid Krouch scored in the 32nd and 45th minute respectively to put RS Berkane ahead.
Ricardo Da Rocha’s men made a few frantic attempts but to no avail as the game ended 2-0 (4-3 on aggregate) to Berkane who’ll now progress to the group stages of the tournament.
