CAF CC Preview: Real Bamako vs Accra Hearts of Oak
AS Bamako qualified for the CAF Confederations Cup despite losing the Cup Final to AC Djoliba, they also lost the Malian Super Cup 1-0 to the same opponent last weekend and haven’t scored in 3 games overall this season.
The Malian side progressed to the First round stage after two goalless draw games against Douanes, qualifying through a 3-1 penalty shootout.
They play in an 18 Teams league system too and finished last season 5th with 48 points (same points tally as Hearts of Oak).
Goal scoring seems to be their major hurdle and for Hearts of Oak to stand a tall chance going into the return encounter the Phobians need to prevent them from finding the back of the net.
AS Bamako have won 🏆 6 league titles and 10 Malian Cups, they last won the league in 1991.
They reached the Group stages of the 2014 CAF Confederations Cup which is their highest finish since the Competition’s inception.
Hearts of Oak reached the final qualifying round of the CAF Confederations Cup last season after dropping from the Champions League, but lost 4-2 on aggregate to JS Saoura from Algeria.
The Ghanaian side qualified via winning the MTN FA Cup last and received a bye in the preliminary round after their performance last season in Africa.
Domestically Hearts of Oak are yet to win a game this season losing one and drew two.
The Kicks off 4:00 pm at the Stade 26 Mars with the re leg at the Accra Sports Stadium on 16th October 2022.
