Berekum Chelsea’s Abu Ushau opens up on his first season in the Ghana Premier League
Abu Ushau who had a stellar season for Berekum chelsea FC, emerged as one of the best defensive midfielders and best performing rookies in his debut season, being adjudged 3 MVPs, playing 32 matches all season.
Speaking to Maverick Sports Center, he disclosed his best match was against Accra Hearts of Oak and toughest match was against Accra Great Olympics.
“My first season has been great. A lot of ups and some downs. I take positives from all that’s happened though. Am grateful to Allah.”
“Against Hearts of Oak in Berekum. That was my first time playing against one of the best club’s in Ghana if not the best and to have been adjudged the MVP of the game says a lot and means a lot to me. I have had a number of good games but if am pushed to pick a game I would choose that. The opponent even makes it big for me”.
“My tough game I would say against Olympics in Accra. I suffered a lot in that game and I don’t even like thinking about it. They have a lot of quality in their team. I suffered in the game”.
“I didn’t expect to play a lot in the course of the season not because I don’t believe in my self, but the quality we had in our squad ..I didn’t believe I would play many games. We had the likes of The legendary Jordan Opoku who is one of my idols. To think I would play ahead of him was never in the cards. But strangely he Jordan believed in me and spoke to me a lot. He encouraged me. We had a lot of midfielders that were ahead of me in ranking order as far as games were concerned but the ways of God isn’t the ways of man. I ended up playing more games that all the midfielders in the team. I must have been doing something good else I wouldn’t play that many games.
In all this all I can say is Alhamdulilah”. He concluded.
Trust the Process 💪🏿
