Barcelona Teenage Sensation, Ansu Fati Ruins Peter Ofori-Quaye’s UCL Record
Barcelona teenage sensation Ansu Fati now holds the record for the youngest player ever to score a goal in the UEFA Champions league history after he netted a winner against the Nerazzurri on Tuesday night as Barça emerged victorious.
Ansu came on as a substitute on the 85th minute and found the back of the net just a minute later, got Inter eliminated and became the competition’s youngest scorer.
The record was held by former Ghana international Peter Ofori-Quaye for over a period of two decades when he was plying his trade in Europe with Olympiacos.
Ofori-Quaye scored against Rosenborg in the group stages of the 1997/1998 season of the UEFA Champions league when he was at the age of 17 years and 195 days to set the priceless record.
Fati netted against Inter Milan on 10th December 2019 at the age of 17 years and 40 days, 155 days younger than the Ghanaian to break and set the enviable record as he got his name inscribed in the football history books.
