Asante Kotoko declared 2:0 winners against FC Nouadhibou in 2nd leg

Asante Kotoko have been declared winners of their CAF Champions League preliminary round 2nd leg against FC Nouadibou.

This occurred after the Mauritanian champions failed to raise a team for the game at the Accra Sports Stadium on Sunday.

Two players of FC Nouadhibou were positive after a second COVID-19 test and had to be isolated from the rest of the squad.

The Mauritanian side travelled with 16 players, and were left with 14 for the game, but the competition rules states that a team with less than 14 players cannot Play a game.

After hours of deliberation, the Match Commissioner walked Kotoko onto the pitch to be officially declared winners.

The Porcupines therefore qualify to the next round with a 3:1 aggregate.

They will face Al-hilal Omdurman in the next round. They will play at home first on 22/23 December and the return game in Sudan on January 5/6, 2020.
