AFCON U-23: Coach Ibrahim Tanko Upbeat About Black Meteors Chances Against Host Nation Egypt
Black Meteors head coach Ibrahim Tanko is very optimistic about his players chances against host nation Egypt in their second group match on Monday.
Ghana needs a win to boost their chances of qualification to the semi finals stage after drawing 1-1 in the opening match against Cameroon.
Egypt defeated Mali by 1-0 in their first match and sits at the summit of the group with three points while Ghana has just a point.
But coach Tanko who is well aware of the home support of Egypt is not shaken one bit and believes the Black Meteors are poised for victory on Monday.
“Playing against the host nation won’t be easy because they have the fans on their side but we are ready for the game against Egypt and we are going for a win.
“The players know what’s at stake. This is the second game and it is against the host nation. I am sure my players are ready” he added.
He’s also aware of the threats the Egyptian pose and have cautioned his players accordingly “We’ve told the players to be ready for a difficult match. Egypt has a good team and we saw that in their first match”.
Kick off time is 8pm at the Cairo International Stadium(6pm GMT).
