English-born Ghanaian Winger Tariqe Akwesi Fosu loses Championship playoffs final with Brentford FC
Brentford FC hopes of a return to the top flight of English football for the first since 1947 came to an end in the Skybet Championship play-offs on Tuesday night at Wembley stadium.
The Bees earned a place in the the final after defeating Welsh side Swansea City 3-2 on aggregate, with high expectations of making it to the Premier league for the first time and also end their seventy-three year absence in top tier football.
Fulham won the game 2-1 in extra time with both goals coming from left-back Joe Bryan to earn Fulham Premier league football, after a season back in the Championship.
Tariqe Fosu joined Brentford in January from Oxford United after an impressive half season where he scored 10 goals in 31 games for the U’s. He scored one goal in ten appearances to help Brentford secure 3rd place in the normal season.
Tariqe Fosu appeared in the game with five minutes of extra time remaining with his side down by a goal.
The left winger who was born in England, earned his first senior call-up from the Black-Stars of Ghana in March for the 2021 AFCON qualifiers against Sudan, but is yet to make his debut after the games were postponed due to the outbreak of coronavirus pandemic.
