Caf CC: Confident Zakaria Issahaque sure of victory over Malindi SC in the second leg of their Caf confederation cup
Former Wa Allstars defender, Zakaria Issahaque full of confidence ahead of Mogadishu City FC crunch encounter against Malindi SC in Zanzibar in the return leg of the ongoing preliminary round of matches in the Caf confederation cup on Saturday
In an exclusive interview with the defender ahead of the game, he said ” I am very confident we will beat our opponents to advance into the next round of the qualifiers come Saturday. It is going to be a very tough contest playing away from home but the preparations we have made so far towards the game am optimistic of a victory”
Mogadishu City FC were held to a goalless draw at home in the first leg of the encounter and will now head to Zanzibar knowing very well that nothing aside victory will be enough to seal their progress to the next stage of the competition
The defender added ” The first leg results was not what we anticipated as we were going for a win which did not happen but the positive part of it was we keeping a clean sheet at home and it could prove very important come Saturday when we face off”
Zakaria, who is competing in his first ever Caf tournament is hoping to have a flourishing debut in the competition
” Participating in this competition for the first time in my career, am hoping to help the team progress in the tournament and hopeful make it to the group stage. And achieving such target means eliminating Malindi SC on Saturday to have the chance of progress further in the competition”
The defender ended by urging all well wishers and fans of the club and Somalia as a nation to rally behind the team to victory on Saturday
” Am urging all the people in the nation as well as our fans to pray for us and support us in our quest to achieving our ultimate aim of reaching the group stages of the competition ”
