GPL FEATURE: Victorien Adebayor — A Rare Gem!
If few players have been quite as much fun to watch in the Ghana Premier League, even fewer have had quite the guile and tenacity of Victorien Adebayor.
The name Victorien Adebayor is perhaps the most mentioned name in the GPL so far –– and rightly so, given how he has become a click bait and a source of fascination and intrigue for the Ghanaian top flight.
The Inter Allies Nigerien import doesn’t just bang in the goals, but the sort of stuff he does with the ball is the reason football lovers are salivating over the purity of his talent.
Yippee! His composure in possession, his awe-inspiring combination of blistering pace, startling power and nimble footwork makes you want to think he’s too good for the GPL.
Having found the back of the net 10 times with 4 assists out of the 10 games played, and also the first to hit double figures means he’s averaging a goal in every 90 minutes. That’s remarkable, isn’t it?
After listening to him in an interview with TV3’s Juliet Bawuah where he boldly stated that he’s basically having fun and prolly yet to face a stiffer opposition, shows how pumped up he is.
He’s definitely taking the league by storm and has already laid down a marker for that matter, but the with his abilities coupled with the confidence he exudes, Victorien Adebayor is destined for greatness in the GPL and beyond.
The success of a footballer is often the result of a number of defining moments; be it a confident debut, a lucky break and run of games, or impressing the right scout at the game. Adebayor ticks all the boxes. What happens at these crossroads can determine a promising player becoming a great one.
