Accrington Stanley defender Jerome Opoku open to play for Ghana in the future
London-born Jerome Opoku says he is open to playing for Ghana under any of the national teams in the future
The 21 year old defender is on loan with Skybet league one side Accrington Stanley from Skybet Championship club Fulham FC
Jerome Opoku has been with the Fulham FC academy at the year of nine and made his U-18 debut for the club in the 2004/05 season
In the 2016/17 season he played for both the U-18 and the premier league 2 of Fulham FC where his only goal came against Stoke City for the U-18
The fast improving defender became a regular for the U-23 side in the 2018/19 season and was named captain of the side
Jerome Opoku joined Accrington Stanley in the summer on loan from Fulham FC and has been a standout star for the side to see his stay extended to the end of the season
The versatile defender who can play both central and wide of defense is yet to play for England at any level
In an exclusive chat with ghanafootballnews.com, the defender revealed his readiness to represent Ghana on the international scene at any levels
” I am open to chance of representing Ghana at any level in my international career. I would love to one day play for Ghana. I have not played for any national side throughout my career” he said
” It has been club football all this while for me as I still await the opportunity to play for Ghana” he added
The young lad is yet to visit his motherland as he was born in Mitcham, England
” I have never been to Ghana in my entire life and it is something am looking forward to do later this year or next year” Jerome Opoku said
