Ghanaian international, Abubakari Kashaf over the moon after signing his first professional contract with Somali top-flight club Mogadishu City Football Club

The towering centre back penned a two year deal with the Somali capital club following an impressive off season campaign with the club

The defender moved from lower tier side Wa Dondoli Discipline Youth FC over the summer to join the reigning champions of the top-flight league in Somalia

HOW DOES IT FEEL TO SIGN YOUR FIRST PROFESSIONAL CONTRACT?

“Am over the moon at the moment and I will like to use this opportunity to thank the Almighty Allah for how far he has bought me throughout my career”

“I will use the opportunity as well to thank my former club Wa Dondoli Discipline Youth FC from management down to the fans for their believe and support for me throughout my stay with the club”

HOW SETTLED ARE YOU IN SOMALIA SINCE ARRIVING?

“It hasn’t been easy for me at the beginning but for now am a bit use to the environment, culture and other social issues in the country. The club and teammates are making it possible for me to settle in as really quick”

“Compatriot Zakaria Issahaque and Wahidu Mumuni who have been in the country before me are part of my quick settle in the country as they have offered me numerous support till date”

WHAT ARE YOUR GOALS AHEAD OF THE NEW SEASON?

“Am hoping to play a key part in the success of the club and to help them retain the league title” Staying injury free and contributing in numerous ways on and off the pitch for the success of Mogadishu City Football Club and probably chipping in a couple of goals throughout the season”

” As a defender one other aim is to help my team keep numerous clean sheets throughout the season and hopeful winning the defender of the season as well”

YOU WILL MISS THE OPENING TWO GAMES OF THE SEASON. WHEN ARE YOU EXPECTED BACK AND WHAT SHOULD THE FANS HOPE TO SEE ON YOUR RETURN?

“It’s really sad for me not to be able to help the team from the word go in the league. Am out with a knee injury and am hoping of returning to the pitch in two weeks time should things go on well for me with my rehabilitation progress”

“Fans should embrace themselves for a more matured and stronger person on my return from injury”

WHAT ARE YOUR LAST WORDS TO YOUR FANS IN GHANA AND SOMALIA?

” My last words will be for them to keep praying fpr me and continue to offer me the needed support throughout this period of my career. And am promising not to let them down from now and to go and hopeful we can win the league for them”
