OFFICIAL: Salah, Mane and Mahrez are Top 3 Finalists for African POTY Award

Mohamed Salah, Riyad Mahrez and Sadio Mane are the top three finalists for the 2019 African Player of the Year Award.

The Liverpool duo Mane and Salah led the Reds to clinch the Champions League title last season, before winning the UEFA Super Cup and Club World Cup.

Mahrez on the other hand helped Manchester City defend their Premier League title, and also spearheaded Algeria to conquer Africa and won the African Cup of Nations for the first time in so many years.

Mane’s Senegal lost to Mahrez’s Algeria after Salah’s Egypt were bundled out of the tournament in the Round of 16 on home soil.

The Egypt forward has won the award twice in a row, beating Mane who’s highly tipped to win this year’s award in the process.

Mahrez has also won the award in 2016, the year he aided Leicester City to do the unthinkable by winning the English Premier League.

The winner will be announced on January 7th.
