GPL: Aduana stars players to take pay cuts according to CEO Albert Commey
Two times Ghana premier league side, Aduana stars have slashed the salaries of their players for no football activities in the nation according to Chief Executive Officer Mr. Albert Commey in an interview on Asempa FM on Wednesday
According to the CEO, the decision was taken two weeks ago because the Dormaa based club is facing financial crisis as their sponsors have suspended their deals or pulled out due to the lack of domestic football in the country
He is quoted to have said ” With the situation we find ourselves we are forced to slash the salaries of the players because there is no football in the country”
” Some of our sponsors have made us understand that until the league starts, they are not paying us any money while one company wrote to us that they have withdrawn their sponsorship because there is no league”
” All these make running a club in the nation difficult” he said
He added ” We have been trying to pay full salaries all these while until this month when management sat down with players and presented them two options which was either to go sit home without pay until football returns or take a pay cut and train with us. And they opted for taking a pay cut, that was about two weeks ago”
” We are only applying what the clauses in our contracts say in situations like this. The fact is that, this is not deliberate. Other clubs started it already but for us it is now we are starting it. However, immediately we start the league, it will come back to the normal pay”
Mr. Albert Commey also revealed that the club is changing it’s module of operations and will soon push out aging players to concentrate on developing and building a more youthful side
