MLS: Ghanaian defender Lalas Abubakar joins Colorado Rapids on permanent basis from Columbus Crew
Ghanaian defender Lalas Abubakar has signed a permanent contract with Major League Soccer club Colorado Rapids from Columbus Crew ahead of the upcoming season
The former U-20 international, spent last season on loan with the club from Columbus Crew and has now been signed permanently following his impressive display with the club
Lalas Abubakar made 22 appearances last season on loan for Colorado Rapids starting in all matches and was voted the club’s best defender of the season at the end of the season
The move means the Kumasi born three years stints with Columbus Crew has come to an end
He joined Columbus Crew in 2017 and has made 31 appearances for the club and netted twice in the process for the club before leaving to join Colorado Rapids
Lalas Abubakar departure means Columbus Crew will now have three Ghanaian players in their club as David Accam, Jonathan Mensah and Harrison Afful still remain with the club
