AFCON U-23: Black Meteors are Through to the Semi-finals
Black Meteors have qualified to the semifinals of the ongoing Afcon U-23 in Egypt after beating Mali by 2-0, courtesy two second half goals from substitute Kwabina Owusu.
Their qualification was also ensured by the results between Egypt and Cameroon as the host made it three out of three by defeating Cameroon by 2-1.
Ghana and Cameroon had four points each in the group but the Meteors qualified by a better goal difference.
It looked difficult from the scheme of things but the Black Meteors have resuscitated their chances of qualifying to the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo. They’ll have to win their semifinal encounter to qualify for the tournament in Japan.
Much credit must be given to Ibrahim Tanko and his charges as they were written off by many football connoisseurs.
