AFCON U-23: Black Meteors On the Verge of Elimination after Defeat to Egypt

Ghana Black Meteors have lost to the host nation Egypt in an eventful and entertaining encounter this evening at the Cairo international stadium.

The Ghanaians led twice but poor game management by Ibrahim Tanko and his crew allowed the Egyptians to come back into the game and eventually winning by 3-2.

Captain Yaw Yeboah drew first blood on the 6th minute but Mustafa Mohamed equalized on the 17th minute before Samuel Obeng made it 2-1 on the stroke of half time.

With just 10 minutes to full time, the Egyptians got the needed equalizer on the 81st minute through Sohbi, but to spare themselves some blushes, Rayyan stepped up and sealed the game with a thumping header on the 89th minute to give the host nation a resounding win.

The Pharoahs are on six points which means they are the first team to book a place in the semifinals after winning all their two games.

However, the Black Meteors will have to wait just yet. Perhaps for a miracle. They’ll have no option but to win against Mali in their last group game and also hope for a defeat for Cameroon at the hands of Egypt.
