GFA ELECTIONS: The 2019 GFA Elections Hung in the Balance after it was Hit with an Injunction

The GFA elections on Friday is highly unlikely after the federation was served with an interlocutory injunction putting entire elections in jeopardy.

A third division club in Tema sued the Normalisation Committee on Tuesday claiming the entire process must be stopped until the court hears the full case.

The Tema Court has set the hearing of the case to October 24th but as the Regional FA elections is scheduled to start in two days’ time, the election might just have to wait.

One Moses Dahama sued the FA seeking clarification and proper interpretation of the relevant GFA, CAF and FIFA Regulations leading to the disqualification of Mr. Wilfred Kwaku Osei Palmer from contesting the GFA Elections.

Mr. Dahama has also asked the Court to grant an order of interlocutory injunction against the GFA from balloting or carrying out any activities as far as the roadmap for the 2019 GFA Elections scheduled for 18-25 October 2019 is concerned unless the substantive case is fully determined.

He also want the court to order the reinstatement of the candidature of ‘disqualified Wilfred Osei Kwaku Palmer into the 2019 GFA Election which is supposed to happen on 18th – 25th of October.

By this action the GFA NC is stopped from taking any action that will compromise or prejudice the outcome of the application for injunction before the High Court.

This only means the Normalization Committee will have to respond to the injunction because ignoring it will amount to contempt of court.

The Members of the NC may take the risk of ignoring the injunction in which case they would be cited for contempt and thrown into jail as punishment for the atonement of the wrong.

Wilfred Osei Kwaku Palmer was disqualified from the presidential race due to breaches of Article 33(5)(c) of the FA Code.
