KOTOKO: Sacking C.K was a Mistake – Bashir Hayford
Former Kumasi Asante Kotoko SC manager Bashir Hayford thinks the sacking of C.K Akonnor led to the club’s exit from the on-going 2019 Caf Champions League.
Kotoko defeated Etoile Du Sahel by 2-0 in the first leg but capitulated in the return leg by losing to the Tunisian side by 3-0. Which led to their painful exit from the tournament.
Bashir who’s the current Technical Director of Somalia Football Association believes Kotoko made a huge mistake by sacking Akonnor who led the team to qualify for the championship.
In an interview with Angel fm he said “Kotoko made a mistake by parting ways with C.K Akonnor. When you qualify for an African competition it is prudent to allow the coach to continue”
The former Ashantigold SC coach however advised the hierarchy of Asante Kotoko to keep coach Kjetil Zachariassen but instead try and put measures in place to succeed in the CAF Confederation Cup.
