WAFU 2019: Goalkeepers trainer for Black star B salutes gallant stars after victory over Burkina Faso last night

Goalkeepers coach of the local based footballers, Black Star B, Issah Najahu has saluted the team for their brilliant display last night against Burkina Faso as they booked a place in the semi finals of the on-going WAFU tournament in Senegal

The defending champions came from an early setback in the third minute of the through Ilias Tiendrebeogo before captain Shafiu Mumuni pulled parity with six minutes to end the first half of the match

The Stars went on to earn a place in the semi finals after winning on penalties 5-4 on the night

“Am happy with what the boys did on the night to progress to the semi finals of the competition. It was a very tough game for us as expected but we had the believe and mentality of progressing which made it a bit comfortable for us throughout the game” said the goalkeepers coach

He went further to say ” To come back from an early goal in such a game to make it to the semis shows the mentality and resilience of the team. It was a really brilliant team play between Esso and Shafiu before the later scored to draw the game for us”

The coach went on to share his delight at seeing his keeper pulling a heroic stop to guide the Black stars B to the next round of the competition

“Am really proud of Antwi for saving the spot kick and guiding the team pass Burkina Faso. It was not a surprise to see him pull such save as he has been doing it as well in training. It is good for the goalkeeping department as we have got amazing set of goalkeepers at the tournament and they help in pushing each other to their very best” he added

Head coach Maxwell Konadu and his charges are just two more victories away from retaining the title they won at home in the last edition and coach Nahaju is optimistic of their chances in retaining it

“It is a tough task for us but we are optimistic of retaining the title and we are taking it game by game as we progress in the competition” he concluded
