Wa Power SC defeat Wa United in UWR D2 Middle League opener
The game kickstarted the 2022/2023 middle league Tournament in the Upper West Region on Friday morning of 9th June with all matches scheduled at Wa stadium.
Wa United scored first in the game before Mohammed Mabrouk equalized before halftime against his former side.
Plenty of chances went begging for Wa Power SC but they were finally rewarded in the 80th minute mark through midfielder Mohammed Mahfouz, who scored his first goal for the club with a well placed shot from a corner kick.
The cushionier came in added time from Issahaku Wahidu to make it 3-1 and give the ‘We Can’ boys a lively start to the Tournament.
In other games, Golden FC also defeated Hilla Stars 2-1. Wa FC climaxed the day with a 2-0 victory over Kowie Eva Stars.
Next round of matches comes up tomorrow with another three (3) crucial fixtures for all six (6) clubs.
The overall champions after five (5) MatchDays seals a place in next season’s Division One League Zone 1A.
