Nuhu Tanko of Maana FC earns Call-up to Black Meteors

The 17 year old Chap have received a call-up into the National under 23 team Black Meteors ahead of 2023 African Cup of Nations in Morocco.

The youngster was spotted by the National team Coach Ibrahim Tanko after his bonzer performance in the just ended Access Bank Division one League.

Nuhu Tanko joined Maana FC in the Upper West Region in the 2022/2023 season in February 2023 making 8 appearances, with 5 goals to his credit.

Despite playing just 8 of 28 league games in the season, Nuhu Tanko finished the campaign as joint Top goal scorer (5) for Maana FC, level pegging with Khalid Abdul Wahab and Issahaku Majeed.

He scored his first goals in a hat-trick against the league leaders of Zone one A, Techiman Eleven Wonders, also formerly of the Ghana Premier league.

The reigning utility striker has proven to the Sports world his talent and skills up front and has been described by many Football pundits as modern day attacker.

Tanko is being celebrated in the Upper West Region for his goals scoring ability, acrobatics skills, dribbling and pace. He is expected to join his counterparts in camp at the Ghanaman Center of Excellence in Prampram ahead of the U-23 African Cup of Nations in June this year.

The Black Meteors are paired with the host Morocco, Guinea and Congo in Group A of the competition that serves as qualifiers for the next Olympics games (2024) in Paris, France.

The U-23 AFCON is scheduled to begin on June 24 in Morocco with the final game set to be played on July 8.
