Rashid Alhassan’s brace fuels RTU survival hopes in victory over Accra Lions FC

A goal in each half from the towering center-back sunk Accra Lions FC to defeat at the Tamale Sports Stadium on MatchDay 27 in the Ghana Premier League.

The game ended 2-0 as the former Wa All Stars Defender also aided his side to a clean sheet on the day.

Rashid Alhassan joined Team in the second round from Medeama SC to boost their survival, and scored his first goals in the 23rd and 53rd minutes respectively against their fellow new boys Accra Lions FC.

That was RTU’s first clean sheet in 10 games in the Ghana Premier League after last recording one against Defending Champions Accra Hearts of Oak on the last day of the first round.

Up next for the Northerners is a trip to Dawu to face Dreams FC on Saturday, before hosting 2nd placed Bechem United a week later.

RTU are currently 14th on the league log, tied on 32 points points with next week’s opponent Dreams FC and 3 valuable points above relegation.
