West Africa Football Academy and defending champions Accra Hearts Oak played out a fascinating 1-1 stalemate at the Sogakope Stadium. The Phobia boys took the lead at the stroke of half time after forward Kofi Kordzi pounds on a Salifu Ibrahim pass, kept his composure and brazenly hit it in between the legs of WAFA’s goalie into the back of the net. But the Academy boys dominance paid off just in the early proceedings of the second half when Samson Agyepong capitalized on Hearts’ poor defending and slots home beautifully to equalize.

Kumasi Asante Kotoko left it late yet again following a hard earned victory against Bechem United in front of their teeming supporters. The Porcupine Warriors were playing in their favorite home ground for the first time in over a year. The joy and euphoria at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium was in abundance. Kotoko stayed on top for most part of the fight, throwing jabs whiles nullifying threats. The visitors lost the plot in the 86th minute after Isaac Oppong was brought down in the penalty area. Captain Ismail Abdul Ganiu step up and converted it with brazen precision. Imoro Ibrahim’s magnificent cross was enough for Samuel Boateng as he rose above everybody, 12yards from goal and heads home beautifully to make it 2-0.

Newcomers Real Tamale United tasted defeat at the hands of Legon Cities at the Accra Sports Stadium. In-form David Abagna’s brace was not enough as Legon Cities won 3-2.

Elsewhere in the capital, two clubs in the city Accra Great Olympics and Accra Lions took it to each other but the Dade lads made sure they came on top. Maxwell Abbey Quaye was too hot to handle as his fantastic hat trick ensure they win emphatically.

Aduana Stars were unbeaten at home the whole of last season but King Faisal ensured their first game at home ended in a woeful 3-1 defeat. The Ogya boys were beaten to a pulp in their own backyard. King Faisal battled and survived relegation last season but have won all their two games and are joint leaders with City rivals Kumasi Asante Kotoko.

Dreams FC inflicted a 3-1 humiliation on Elmina Sharks away from home. Teenage sensation Fatawu Issahaku’s direct freekick goal was the icing on the cake.

Berekum Chelsea and Techiman Eleven Wonders treated themselves to a 0-0 lackluster draw whiles Ashanti Gold were held at home by Karela FC in a 1-1 draw.
