AFCON U-23: Ill-treatment Motivates Black Meteors to Qualify – Kwadjo Baah Agyeman
The Board Chairman of the National Sports Authority, Kwadjo Baah Agyeman, has revealed shockingly that, the series of neglect and the improper treatment Black Meteors went through inspired them to qualify for the 2019 Afcon U-23.
The players of the Black Meteors went through what could be described as I’ll-treatment or a complete lack of attention from Authorities ahead of both their first and return encounters with Algeria.
Though they played a lackluster 1-1 draw at home, they staged a shocking comeback to record a 1-0 win over Algeria in Setif on Tuesday to qualify for the 2019 AFCON U-23 on a 2-1 aggregate.
In an interview with Saddiq Adams Obama on Angel fm, Mr. Agyeman insisted that comments regarding the team’s poor travel arrangements are overblown and that commuting with taxis in batches is what actually motivated them to win.
“I think we are overstating this matter too much. For all you know that was what even motivated them to win the game”
“That was a source of motivation because when we give them luxurious treatment they fail, but when they went through this, see how they played” he queried.”
The former MP would drag the Black Stars and the huge sums of money spent on them into the conversation as he made it clear “This is the reason why I think we should slash down with the investment into the Black Stars.”
The Black Meteors will join seven other countries in Egypt for the third edition of the AFCON U-23, where the first stage of the CAF qualifiers for the 2020 Summer Olympics Men’s football tournament in Tokyo, Japan will be determined.
