Asumah Abubakar signs for FC Lugano until 2023

FC Lugano announce that they have signed Portuguese forward Asumah Abubakar from Ghana with a contract valid until 30.06.2023 (with option for a further season). The twenty-three year old arrives on the banks of the Ceresio from Kriens, a team from the cadet league with whom he has scored 22 goals and 10 assists in 47 matches; he came to Switzerland after playing in the Netherlands with Willem II and MVV Maastricht.

Abubakar, who also boasts two appearances and a goal with the Portuguese U19 national team, has just been named best player of the 2020 Challange League along with Davide Callà and Petar Pusic. Ransford Selasi takes the opposite path; the midfielder of Ghanaian origins, who has made 7 appearances in the black and white jersey, is loaned to Kriens until the end of the current season.
