Asamoah Gyan debuts for Legon Cities FC in stalemate against Medeama SC

The two teams played a goalless drawn game at the Accra Sports Stadium on Friday night.

Asamoah Gyan played his first game in the Ghana Premier League for the first time since featuring for Liberty Professionals in 2003, he came on as a substitute for Legon Cities against Medeama in matchday 3 of the 2020/21 Ghana Premier League.

Gyan came on as a substitute in the 70th minute for Raphael Ocloo to make his debut for Legon Cities FC since his move a month ago.

Gyan scored 10 goals in 16 games for Liberty Professionals before moving to Europe, finishing third in the top scorer chart in the 2003 season.

He played for Udinese, Modena, Rennes, Sunderland, Kayserispor, Shanghai SIPG and Al Ahli, North East United in India.

Gyan is the all-time leading goalscorer of the Ghana national team with 51 goals in 109 appearances, and has represented Ghana at 2006, 2010 and 2014 FIFA World Cups.

His 6 goals earns him the top African goalscorer in the history of the World Cup, surpassing Cameroonian Legend Roger Milla.
